The Phoenix Alliance is a statewide youth advocacy group that provides Utah youth with the skills and knowledge to fight tobacco industry manipulation and to make educated choices about tobacco. The Phoenix Alliance is unique in that it is a youth led movement. We are not against smokers we are against the industry.
The name Phoenix Alliance comes from the bird found in mythology of Greece, Egypt, and Christianity, and others. When the bird matures it will turn into the rays of the sun, sing a wonderful melody and burst into flames. From the ashes of the mature Phoenix, a newborn chick arises. So we at the Phoenix Alliance are the Youth rising from the ashes of those who died uneducated.
The Phoenix Alliance group is 1,200 members strong led by the Youth Leadership Board of 30 members and a Presidency of 4 members. These members meet once a month to strategize what the Phoenix Alliance will do next to fight against tobacco companies and expose their lies.
The Youth Leadership Board (YLB) is a great way to get involved in the fight against Big Tobacco. The YLB makes the decisions for the Phoenix Alliance, and we need members from across the state!
If you're interested, download the YLB Application. Each July we take applications to develop a new board for the new school year. You can be apart of the YLB until the July after you graduate or until you turn 19 years old.

The Phoenix Alliance's Goals:
Our goals are to increase teens' knowledge about tobacco manipulation, and to help teenagers make educated decisions about tobacco. Our side goals also include a dedication to the decrease teenage smoking rates, and increase the number of teen anti-tobacco advocate's in Utah.
The Phoenix Alliance's Target Audience:
You should be a part of the Phoenix Alliance if you are between the ages of 12-18, hate the smoking industry, like to rebel and strive to let your voice be heard.
